Snehal, Kashyap set new benchmarks with triple centuries
*Goa’s historic 606-run partnership breaks 1989 record
*Goa crush Arunachal Pradesh by Innings and 551 runs
Panaji: Goa’s Snehal Kauthankar (314 not out) and Kashyap Bakhale (300 not out) smashed triple centuries against Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy Plate Division match, marking the first time two triple centuries were recorded in a single innings of First-Class cricket on the same day.
The previous instance of two triple centuries in a single First-Class innings dates back to 1989 when, playing for Tamil Nadu against Goa, WV Raman and Arjan Kripal Singh achieved the feat over consecutive days on January 21 and 22.
The Snehal-Kashyap duo added an unbeaten 606 runs for the third wicket, setting a record for the highest partnership in Indian First-Class cricket for any wicket.
The highest international First-Class partnership remains held by Sri Lankan legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who scored 624 runs against South Africa in 2006.
Goa’s largest-ever win in Ranji
Goa registered its largest win in Ranji Trophy history by defeating a weakened Arunachal Pradesh side by an innings and 551 runs.
This match, held at the GCA Academy Ground in Porvorim, also marked Goa’s fifth consecutive victory in the Plate Division this season, placing them at the top of their group with 33 points.
