'Can't Ignore How He Has Changed Sporting Lisbon': Casemiro's Words Of Praise For New Manchester United Manager Ruben Amorim
Manchester United await new head coach Ruben Amorim to assume duties at the helm of the English club following his move from Portuguese Champions Sporting Lisbon as the Red Devils look to enter a new era after a decade of struggle.
Amorim, who led the Portuguese capital city club to two titles in four years, was named as the man to succeed former boss Erik ten Hag after a poor run of results saw the Dutchman shown the exit door.
Amorim succeeded in ending Sporting’s 19-year wait for the league title at Sporting, something that would encourage the United base, which awaits its first Premier League title since the departure of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson all the way back in the year 2013.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was all praise for Amorim for the work the 39-year-old has done with the Lisbon-based side in the past four years.
“He is very true, very loyal,” Casemiro said.
“We cannot ignore how he has changed Sporting Lisbon.
We know that Sporting won many titles, changed the club with titles, with trophies,” the 32-year-old said.
“He has already proved that he is a coach that has won a lot,” the Brazilian continued.
The midfielder also opined that the United dressing room seeks to improve and learn from the new boss as they set out to find success together.
“I think there is going to be a good template that everyone wants to grow, everyone wants to learn.
I think that is the way to first help us grow to be at the top of the table,” Casemiro said.
The midfielder has recovered his form following a challenging start to the season which saw the Brazilian involved in high-profile errors, including his horrendous showing against arch-rivals Liverpool earlier in the season.
“Well, everyone can see can’t they? I only had the Liverpool game, right? The whole team was not good in that game, or this season,” Casemiro said.
“This match, but individually, of course when the goals are missed, of course it ends up hurting the team more, but I think it’s been a good season for me,” he added.
“I want to continue growing, I want to continue helping my team-mates and the coach, helping Manchester United grow,” he reiterated.
