Kumaraswamy backs BJP, wants SIT to prove Siddaramaiah's bribery claims
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's claim that the BJP offered Rs 50 crore each to 50 Congress MLAs to topple his government in Karnataka.
Addressing reporters, Kumaraswamy criticised Siddaramaiah for making what he called "irresponsible statements.
" He said, "Such statements shouldn’t be given as they look like the ones given by buffoons.
" The minister urged the ruling Congress to use its power to investigate the alleged bribery case.
Kumaraswamy suggested forming an SIT for the bribery allegations, adding, "If he does not form an SIT to probe this case, then people will doubt him and his Cabinet colleagues.
"BJP Karnataka President BY Vijayendra had earlier challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to disclose the source and show proof of his allegations.
He accused the Chief Minister of undermining his own party by levelling baseless accusations, claiming that Siddaramaiah’s statements would lose credibility if he failed to provide evidence.
Kumaraswamy’s statements came after Siddaramaiah accused the BJP of attempting to bribe Congress MLAs but said none of them accepted the offer.
He also alleged that BJP leaders are now targeting him with false cases, including the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam.
