Not Virat Kohli Or Jasprit Bumrah! Michael Vaughan Names 2 Indian Players To Watch Out For In Border-Gavaskar Trophy - WATCH
The Indian men’s cricket team has landed in Australia to take part in a five-match Test series against Australia.
The 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set to start on November 22 in Perth, and the next four matches will take place in Adelaide (December 6-10), Brisbane (December 14-18), Melbourne (December 26-30), and Sydney (January 3-7, 2025).
India has won the last four Test series against Australia, two of which were played on Australian soil.
The Rohit Sharma-led side, which is coming into the series against the Baggy Greens after losing three Tests in a row against New Zealand, would like to come up with a big show in the marquee series and complete hat-trick of series wins Down Under.
Ahead of the start of the first Test between India and Australia, former England skipper Michael Vaughan, who has now donned the hat of an expert, has ignored Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah and instead picked Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the Indian players to watch out for in the India-Australia Test series.
During a conversation with former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist and others, Vaughan was asked which Indian player he was most excited to watch, and in reply, he mentioned Jaiswal and Pant’s names.
According to Vaughan, who led England to the famous Ashes series win over Australia in 2005, Pant has to play a blinder once again in Australia.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal would be one, but Rishabh Pant, I think he is absolutely box-office.
He makes batting look more like he’s just playing in the backyard,” Vaughan said.
“He’s under the utmost pressure of playing for India, with social media going berserk when India plays.
And he just makes it look like he’s having a bit of fun with his friends out in the middle.
He’s played some great innings.
You go back to that innings in Brisbane when he got India over the line.
I think over the next few weeks, for India to be really competitive, this man on screen, Rishabh, is going to have to play a blinder once again,” he added.

Pant remained unbeaten on 89 runs from 138 balls in the second inning of the Brisbane Test, which India won by three wickets after chasing down the target of 328 runs on January 19, 2021.
Pant has a good record in Test matches played on Australian soil.
In seven matches, with the help of one century and two fifties, he has scored 624 runs.
