What did Guardiola say about Manchester City’s 4 “shocking” losses?
Spaniard Pep Guardiola promised to restore his English team, Manchester City, to its “best levels,” after suffering four consecutive losses in various competitions, in a precedent during his prolific coaching career that began in 2007.
Before losing to Brighton 1-2 last Saturday in the English Football League, the Citizens had lost to Tottenham 1-2 in the League Cup, Bournemouth 1-2 in the league and Sporting 1-4 in the Champions League.
Guardiola’s men, who are aiming for a fifth consecutive title in the English Premier League, are in second place, five points behind leaders Liverpool, who have 9 wins from the first 11 rounds.
Guardiola said: “I was a football player and many times I lost many matches.
Four in a row, five, six.
”He continued: “I did not expect anything different, just because we have won in the past and we are a special team.
“People believe this thing, but it’s not true.
”City is suffering from a glut of injuries in its ranks, in light of the absence of Portuguese centre-back Ruben Diash, his neighbor in the back line, John Stones, and Belgian wingers Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish, while Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has not regained his previous level after returning from injury.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona Spanish coach continued, “We are not consistent enough to maintain the level that allowed us to achieve what we want for several years.
”City won the Premier League title six times in the last seven years, but its decline in the fall has become common.
Last season, he won only six matches during November and December, but he recovered in time.
The exceptional coach explained: “Don’t be satisfied if you win a lot.
You know how difficult this matter is.
We now understand how difficult it is to achieve and how happy we will be when we win again.
”He added, “We are not at our best now, this is self-evident.
” But it’s still November so I hope to come back step by step.
Every match will be difficult for every team.
“We will regain our best levels and then we will see.
”After the international break this week, City will play difficult matches against Tottenham, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Aston Villa.
